Leeches may be a wildlife biologist's new best friend when in the field. A team of Danish and British researchers has found that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, the genetic code for life) in the blood consumed by leeches can be used to confirm the presence of mammals, particularly shy, hard-to-find or rare ones. NEWS: Leech With Enormous Teeth Discovered This provides a cheap, simple alternative to traditional tracking tools, from sensor-equipped cameras to hair and feces collection. And, unlike the elusive mammals researchers are often seeking, the leeches come to humans in the hopes of a good meal. First, researchers tested 20 medical leeches that had eaten goat blood from the Copenhagen Zoo. The leeches contained traces of goat DNA for more than four months after their blood meal, they found. That genetic signature would allow researchers to identify the mammals a leech had come into contact with. PHOTOS: Candid Cameras Reveal Animals in Peril Next, they tested the technique in the field, by catching leeches in a Vietnamese rain forest. Of 25 leeches tested, 21 contained traces of DNA from local mammals, including an Annamite striped rabbit, which has not been seen in the area since its discovery in 1996. This technique is likely applicable not only in Southeast Asia, but in other areas where leeches live, study researcher Tom Gilbert, a professor at the Centre for GeoGenetics at the University of Copenhagen, said in a statement.

Dan Baker "Buona artista" (Good Artist)
Lets talk about Dan Baker,I have met him and his wife Darla while at an Ohio Bigfoot Hunters gathering at Beaver Creek State Park. Dan and Darla are extremely nice people and Dan has a passion for scultping and has been making Bigfoot sculptures with fine detail with an estimated six weeks to perfect. Not many people have this kind of talent and it sure shows from all of the detail in his sculptures, every hair is made and placed by hand.Dan has made several other pieces and is currently working on "COTTON" which is turning out great!
For thousands of years mankind has been using sculpture as a primary means of artistic expression. In fact, long before the first record of history was recorded, sculpture was being used by primitive civilizations to document the world in which they lived. Sculpture was often used to represent any number of occurrences in people's lives from the very beginning. Sculpture was used to document the passage of time or environmental changes. Sculpture was also used to represent societal concerns, such as religion, politics, and morality.
Perhaps the popularity and apparent fascination of sculpture will never be explained. However, it is apparent that the artistic medium of sculpture is unique. Above all, sculpture allows the artist to have an intimate relationship with the work being created. Each time the sculptor uses their hands to create a unique work of art, whether or not the materials or subject matter continue to evolve.

Strange Encounters With the Nyalmo, A Creature of Cryptozoology
You think Cryptids do not exist in the Asian part of the world? Well, think again. There have been reports of gigantic creatures found in the southeast region of the continent of Asia. One such account is that of the Nyalmo, which is purportedly living in the mountain range of Himalayas. The sighting of a Nyalmo was first documented in the Himalayan Range in the year 1937. There was a small expedition group that came across an assembly of very huge creatures, each having an estimated height of twenty feet.
The creatures were standing as they formed a circle and were chanting, as if they were doing a religious ritual or something of that sort. One of the Yeti-like creatures was enthusiastically beating a hollow trunk of a tree, like a man hitting his drums to create some music. The others continued their “chants”, but their faces seemed to be filled with a sad expression. With this sight, the adventurers thought that the creatures acted like typical persons and that they should not be feared. But eventually, fears set in due to the creatures’ massive build, they decided to walk away stealthily to avoid conflict.
Doig and Hillary, two Cryptozoology advocates, first learned about the Nyalmo in the north-central area of Nepal. The creature, as described by the natives of Nepal, has almost the same attributes with a primate. It stands approximately twenty feet tall and with thick hair or fur all over. It weighs up to almost 545 kilograms or 1,200 pounds, and leaves behind long four-toed tracks buried in the mud or snow.
Some researchers often associate the huge primate-like hairy Nyalmo with the Yeti in the Himalayan Range. However, this creature is said to also have connections to the werewolf-like beasts found in the countries of Thailand and Burma. The Nyalmo often gets the blame for the mutilating deaths of cattle, wherein only the cattle’s tongue is removed and no other part of the animal has been touched or taken.
The famous founder of Cryptozoology, Bernard Heuvelmans, who is also a writer, scientist, researcher, and explorer, believed that the Nyalmo of the Himalayas represent a remnant population of the Gigantopithecus blacki, which is an extinct specie of the ape that came to existence from around 100,000 years ago in what is now India, China, and Vietnam. They are, as suggested by fossil records, the largest apes that ever lived in the world. Some evidence suggest that they were plant eaters and probably had bamboo as their staple.
There is a website that describes the Nyalmo and numerous other creatures of Cryptozoology in detail, this website is called: Unknown Creatures and it may be found at this url: http://www.unknown-creatures.com

Bigfoot County!!
Even More Found Footage Thrills to Be Had in Bigfoot County
Grindstone Entertainment Group has acquired all North American rights for the feature film Bigfoot County, a found footage thriller about a group of filmmakers who ventured into Siskiyou County in Northern California, an area widely known for its Bigfoot sightings, and disappeared. Their footage was found a year later. Grindstone will release the film this winter through Lionsgate Home Entertainment. “I went up to shoot a movie on Bigfoot, then a local I met with presented me with evidence that blew my mind,” says Bigfoot County director Stephon Stewart. “After seeing this film, you will begin to believe what many have doubted since the 1967 Patterson/Gimlin Bigfoot Footage was released.” Grindstone’s Ryan Black added that “The film puts a scary twist on a classic legend. Bigfoot enthusiasts and horror fans alike will really enjoy what Stewart has created.” In addition to his directing duties, Stewart also produced the film with Richard Halpern, along with executive producers Johnnie Colter and Joey Napoli. Angelique De Luca is associate producer. Bigfoot County will face a bit of competition with The Lost Coast Tapes, arriving this fall, and Eduardo (The Blair Witch Project) Sanchez's Exists - both dabbling in Bigfoot tales utilizing the "found footage" aesthetic.
