Strange Encounters With the Nyalmo, A Creature of Cryptozoology
You think Cryptids do not exist in the Asian part of the world? Well, think again. There have been reports of gigantic creatures found in the southeast region of the continent of Asia. One such account is that of the Nyalmo, which is purportedly living in the mountain range of Himalayas. The sighting of a Nyalmo was first documented in the Himalayan Range in the year 1937. There was a small expedition group that came across an assembly of very huge creatures, each having an estimated height of twenty feet.

The creatures were standing as they formed a circle and were chanting, as if they were doing a religious ritual or something of that sort. One of the Yeti-like creatures was enthusiastically beating a hollow trunk of a tree, like a man hitting his drums to create some music. The others continued their “chants”, but their faces seemed to be filled with a sad expression. With this sight, the adventurers thought that the creatures acted like typical persons and that they should not be feared. But eventually, fears set in due to the creatures’ massive build, they decided to walk away stealthily to avoid conflict.

Doig and Hillary, two Cryptozoology advocates, first learned about the Nyalmo in the north-central area of Nepal. The creature, as described by the natives of Nepal, has almost the same attributes with a primate. It stands approximately twenty feet tall and with thick hair or fur all over. It weighs up to almost 545 kilograms or 1,200 pounds, and leaves behind long four-toed tracks buried in the mud or snow.

Some researchers often associate the huge primate-like hairy Nyalmo with the Yeti in the Himalayan Range. However, this creature is said to also have connections to the werewolf-like beasts found in the countries of Thailand and Burma. The Nyalmo often gets the blame for the mutilating deaths of cattle, wherein only the cattle’s tongue is removed and no other part of the animal has been touched or taken.
The famous founder of Cryptozoology, Bernard Heuvelmans, who is also a writer, scientist, researcher, and explorer, believed that the Nyalmo of the Himalayas represent a remnant population of the Gigantopithecus blacki, which is an extinct specie of the ape that came to existence from around 100,000 years ago in what is now India, China, and Vietnam. They are, as suggested by fossil records, the largest apes that ever lived in the world. Some evidence suggest that they were plant eaters and probably had bamboo as their staple.

There is a website that describes the Nyalmo and numerous other creatures of Cryptozoology in detail, this website is called: Unknown Creatures and it may be found at this url: http://www.unknown-creatures.com
